Summer School If you earned a D or F in a core class required for graduation or college entrance, you will likely need to attend summer school. The 2026 summer school session will be held from June 10–July 3 from 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Students are only permitted to miss a maximum of three days. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Withem, Mrs. Collier, or Mr. Prodan.
Front Office Summer Hours June 8–July 3: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m — 3:30 p.m. (Office not open on Monday, June 8 for meetings) July 6–July 24: ECHS main office is closed. July 27–August 7: ECHS main office open — Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. August 10: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Work Permit Requests During Summer Vacation Students will be able to request work permits on campus through July 3. No work permits will be issued from July 6–July 24. Requests for a work permit will need to be made by emailing the request for a work permit form to Mr. Torres at: jtorres@amhcs.org.
If you have never completed a work permit before, here is how it works. You can pick up a work permit form (B1-1) from the school or even online. Work permits indicate the duties and location where the work will be done as well as the number of hours a minor may work. After your employer fills out their information, you return the B1-1 form to the office and email me that you have done so. Once I see that the employer has filled out their part, I fill out the school portion (B1-4 form). I then leave a copy at the office for you to pick up. This can take up to a week, but 2-3 days is more typical.

Spring Semester Report Cards Report cards will be mailed home by Wednesday, June 10.
Textbook, Chromebook, and Athletic Uniform Returns Textbooks, Chromebooks, and athletic uniforms are now past due. Please turn them into the library as soon as possible. Graduated seniors will not be able to pick up their diplomas until all books are returned or fines paid.
First Day of School 2026-2027 Please view the calendar below for details regarding the 2026-2027 school year. The first day of school is Thursday, August 13.
Requesting AP Scores for College Seniors who have taken any AP courses should also sign in to https://myap.collegeboard.org/login
and indicate which college or university should get your scores. If you took an AP exam this year, and you request that score report before June 20, you will not have to pay a fee. To see more information, go here.

New Computer Science Principles Course Are you going to be a junior or senior next year? Are you Interested in creating your own video games? There are still spots available for next year's new course, Computer Science Principles. In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of programming, problem-solving, and data security by designing and building their very own games. No matter your experience level, this class gives you the tools to innovate, create value for others, and understand the tech that connects our world. If you would like to sign up for this class next year, complete this form so that your Academic Advisor can add it to your schedule for next year. JUNIORS: SAT/ACT Exam Registration Although the UC and CSU schools will be test blind for admission purposes for the class of 2027, some universities have this exam as an admissions requirement, and we suggest sitting for one or both of the exams. We suggest taking your first exam in the spring/summer of your junior year, and then again in the fall of your senior year. You can take a free full-length SAT practice test on Khan Academy (link) or a free full-length ACT practice test (link). Registration for the exams can be found here (SAT — next test is June 6 with a May 22 registration deadline) and here (ACT — next test is July 11 with a June 5 registration deadline). San Diego Fire Cadet Program The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department is always looking for students to join their Cadet Program! This program combines hands-on training and classroom learning to provide students an introduction to professional firefighting careers with the City of San Diego. It teaches them mental and physical wellness, leadership, teamwork, and fire prevention skills. The program typically begins mid-June.

Robotics — Mentors Needed Be a Mentor for Team Daedalus (2839)! This is an exciting time for STEM and Career & Technical Education (CTE) in our school, especially with the addition of new computer programming classes to our Classical Education offerings. We are looking ahead to next year with great anticipation as our competitive robotics program, Team 2839 Daedalus, seeks to build on its success and compete at the Southern California District Championships and potentially the World Championships. We are seeking a few passionate and skilled mentors to join our team for the next season. Mentors act as guides, helping students succeed in the annual competition. The students handle all aspects of robot development, including prototyping, designing, manufacturing, assembling, wiring, programming, and testing.
We are looking for expertise in the following areas: Computer Aided Design (CAD), Marketing and Brand Outreach/Grant Development, Computer Programming, Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Fabrication & Assembly (metal and wood) (We can provide training on any specific machinery you don’t know.)
Time Commitment: Fall (Training): Primarily weekday sessions with one or two scrimmage weekends. Spring (Build Season): The main competition season, running from January to April. This typically requires two or three weekdays after school and an eight-hour Saturday schedule. If you are interested in guiding the next generation of engineers and leaders, or know someone who is interested, please contact Mr. Tom Dewey at tdewey@amhcs.org.
WE NEED HAND and POWER Tools, so if you have old tools sitting around, we can use them to help students learn to be handy. We are also looking for electronics to recycle, especially laptops, computers, monitors, TVs and electronics other than ink printers which cost money to recycle. If you have anything to give, please either leave them at the front desk at ECHS, by the robotics lab or email tdewey@amhcs.org. Thank you!

Community Service Opportunity Heritage Elementary's ELO-Program is looking for high school volunteers. Volunteers will help students with homework as well as aiding teachers in a variety of classes such as coding, 3d printing, art, dance and more! ATHLETICS
Cross Country We are so excited for the upcoming 2026 Cross Country Season. Try outs will be held on Thursday, August 6 and Friday, August 7. Interested athletes will be invited to practice once a week over the summer with Coach Class and Coach Catlett. No prior running experience is required; the summer will help prepare you for tryouts. If you are interested, please fill out the interest form. Coach Class and Coach Catlett will send out summer practice and workout information as it gets closer. Practices will be held on Friday mornings beginning on June 26. If you have any questions email Coach Catlett at acatlett@amhcs.org
Athletic Clearance Forms The athletics clearance portal (RankOne.com) opens on July 1 and clearance paperwork will be due on Monday July 27 for fall athletes. Please make sure to schedule physicals in the meantime. If you need a sports physical form you can pick one up from the Main Office. As a reminder, all forms in the clearance packet on RankOne need to show up as cleared for your student to participate in try-outs, practices, and games. If you have any other questions or concerns please contact our athletics department at echsathletics@amhcs.org.
